I am exhausted. I've been going hard since February 21st when I headed to Asheville, NC. Since then, I've been traveling 16 out of 20 days. I get home to Colorado Springs tomorrow. The good news is that I have had my kids with me for the last week while my wife is in Uganda. It's a busy season for us. But in the midst of this exhausting itinerary, I am seeing transformation in churches and individuals and in orphaned children on a daily basis.
I am encouraged. It started with my visit to First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC. You read about my time there in the post, A New Church Sponsors an Orphanage in Russia! Since then the Hands of Hope team at First Baptist has found 25 more sponsors for their orphanage. Then I was able to visit with the stewardship committee at Coca-Cola Bottling Consolidated in Charlotte, and I saw their team recommit and remobilize to care for the kids at Elatma boarding school and preschool in Ryazan, Russia. Then after being home for a few days, I hit the road for Grant, Nebraska. Grant Evangelical Free Church and New Life Fellowship came together to sponsor 100 kids at Kayango Carepoint in the Bugiri District of Uganda. The 250 farmers in those two small-town churches saw those 100 children sponsored on the morning of March 1st. Then it was home to gather up the family and get on a plane for Dulles. I've met with 6 sponsoring organizations (5 churches and 1 business) in northern and southeastern Virginia and seen their communities encouraged and energized.
What a great couple weeks!
