My wife and I stopped by my parents house yesterday with our kids. We wanted to spend a little time together on a holiday, and before they head off on their first international mission trip on Thursday. It was a cloudy and rainy day (as is often the case here in the beautiful Great Lakes region of the US - quite a shock coming from a year and half under the sunny Colorado skies). We were all sitting on the floor together in the family room, playing with cars and babies, watching highlights of the Ohio State-Navy game on the DVR. Then Judah said...
'I HOPE we can play outside today.'
His words captured me. I have never heard him use the word 'hope' before. I'm not sure he knows what it means - not sure I do. But I know that it's a good and healthy thing. As his father, I want to parent him in a way that builds hope. Judah and I can together learn to hope.
