I was watching English Premiere League Sunday afternoon with my son - as is my custom. The digital scrolling advertisement around the field had something about going to Tanzania as a tourist to see Africa's tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. I think that's a great reason to travel, and maybe someday I'll see that mountain too.
But what would you do with 7500 miles?
As one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies says... 'there's such a lot of world to see'.
When I go to Ethiopia I'll see lakes and mountains and hippos and crocs, I'll hear drumming and singing, I'll taste coffee and delicious food. I'll meet fascinating people from faraway. We'll become friends and our lives will never be the same.
But more than that, I'll also serve vulnerable women and orphaned children. I'll see the factors that produce more and more orphaned children mitigated by holistic care and prevention. I will have turned strangers into neighbors.
What will you do with 7500 miles?
Think about going to Eastern Europe or East Africa with Doma International to serve vulnerable women and orphaned children. Email me at daniel@domaconnection.org for more information.
You know what I would do if I had 75000 miles :)
